April 25th

I can't believe we are counting down the days until school is out!  Some important dates to mark on your calendars are:
Tuesday, May 29th, we will have a kindergarten graduation from 10:30 - 10:55.  Your child will need to bring one of dad's white shirts to wear for the ceremony.  (more info on graduation to follow, but SAVE THE DATE and TIME because you won't want to miss this!)
Wednesday, May 30th, we will walk to the park, behind the school, for a class picnic from 9:00 - 11:00.  Parents and siblings are welcome. Your child will need a sack lunch and a drink.  We walk to the park and carry our lunch  in our backpack.  We will be enjoying this day with Mrs. Bellipanni's class as well.

Thursday, May 31st, will be our last day of kindergarten.  Mrs. Bellipanni and I will be ending our butterfly and insect unit with the movie BUGS.

Newsletter April 13

Welcome back from spring break.  Conferences were great and thank you all for coming.  It was so much fun to celebrate and reflect on the learning and accomplishments your child has made.

We had so much fun on St. Patrick's Day.   We graphed Lucky Charm Cereal, we listened to leprechaun stories and we cleaned up our messy room after the leprechaun came and messed it up.  What a great day!

I am making some changes to our reading groups and days.  Please check the day your child is reading as it may have changed.

March 8th, Newsletter

Important Dates:
March 16-21st - book fair
This is a great chance for you to get easy readers for your child.
March 19th - spring conferences
Please sign up through the Saddle Ranch Website.
March 23 - April 6th - Spring Break

This week, and next week, I am assessing your children during our reading block, therefore, the books that are coming home may look slightly different because I am allowing your child to pick his/her own books.  I will be assessing to see if your child can pick a "Just Right Book." Remember that a just right book is a book that  is not too hard and not too easy.  If your child misses more that 5 words on a page, the book is too difficult.

Wanted:
For the month of March, I like to use Lucky Charm cereal to teach and reinforce math skills, so any box donated to the class is appreciated.  Also, if you see gold coins, that are really bubble gum or chocolate, I like to use these to reinforce good habits and kindness to others.  Anything that is seasonal is appreciated. (Don't say anything, but the class thinks Leprechauns are leaving these treats!!)

Specials next week:  music

February 16th

Yeah!!! Our Valentine Party was a super success thanks to our very special moms!  Thank you so much to Mrs. Gerome for organizing the entire event.  We had fun singing our favorite Valentine song to our moms and then passing out our Valentines and eating all of the candy that came with them.  After all of the sugar, it was extra sweet, to have a Valentine Recess!  :)

Spring conferences are March 19th and you must sign up through the Saddle Ranch Website.

Specials next week:  music

Don't forget that Monday is Presidents Day and there is no school.  Have a safe and relaxing three day weekend.

Charlie Brown Valentine
We will have a valentine's party on Valentine's Day, February 14th, from 10:00 - 10:55.  We will exchange valentines, and then sit and read them while we eat our valentine goodies.  You should have gotten a class list so your kindie can address all of his/er valentine cards.  Please let your child write the names of his/er friends on the cards.  This is a great reading and writing activity for your child.  Don't forget to decorate a shoe box for those fabulous valentine cards your child will get at the party.  Have fun decorating the box, but please, don't send the box until Valentine's Day!  They tend to be very distracting.

Donations:
If you could send in a bag of valentine conversation hearts they would be greatly appreciated.  We are using a lot of these not only for math, but for bingo.
